Recently we wrote a blog about the Low Emission Zone (LEZ) that circles London, a system of having to pay a fee to enter the city of London if your vehicle does not meet standards to ensure less pollution of London. Today we bring to you some information regarding the Ultra-Low Emission Zone, coming soon to Central London.
The Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is a way to ensure that vehicles are keeping to the required standards when entering London. Just like the LEZ, however the ULEZ is for specifically central London. Keeping the ULEZ in place, could allow the breathing air in and around central London to be safe and non-polluted for anyone who may be walking, but also encourages people to stop using vehicles and start cycling or walking, for the benefit of both them and London.
With automated vehicle checking, cameras have the ability to check registration plates and check their database and charge you, so it’s best to get your vehicles checked if you’re unsure if they will pass the ULEZ. Making sure that when purchasing a vehicle in the next few years meets the exhaust emission standards would benefit you, if you live in or travel to London often.
With an extensive website with all the information you could need, checking what your type of vehicle standards are, learning more about the ULEZ and being able to submit your own opinions about it. With Sadiq Khan planning on cleaning up the air quality of London and create a positive economical city, the ULEZ should be heading into effect within the next few years.
