Easily known as the town with the longest name in Europe, Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch (Llanfairpwllgwyngyll) is located in Anglesey and is a popular place to combine with Beaumaris for a day trip! Taking a look around each of them could be a fun adventure for anyone looking to get out of the house, and taking your group of friends or family with you.
With both the Britannia Bridge and the Menai Suspension Bridge nearby, checking them out on your way across would be a good idea, with them being a short distance away. Taking in the sights of the Marine Lake as you pass over shows just how high and magnificent the bridge is. The Suspension Bridge has a lot of history about it, created by Thomas Telford it is just one of many things to learn about.
Finding Nelson’s Monument here is something to look forward to. With the history that it holds, the navigational aid is well worth the visit. The Marquess is something interesting to climb to find sights of Snowdonia and others. Built as a tribute to Henry Paget, the column is still in place to show the bravery during the battle of Waterloo.
Further North of Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, is Beaumaris. With it just being up the road, it is a fantastic place to join onto Llanfairpwllgwyngyll to take as a day trip or tour. Beaumaris’ landscape and style exceeds no other, with a Gaol (Jail) and Courthouse from the 1600s, and an 18th century country house that you can visit. Both are open to the public which makes it an interesting visit. As a flagship to Beaumaris is its castle. The “unfinished masterpiece” was built in 1295 for King Edward I, to show his authority to the Welsh. Still standing strong, its open for public visitation, and is a recommended place to take a tour whilst on your day out to the Llanfairpwllgwyngyll/Beaumaris area.
